Ever since I bought my second 1881 Singer Model 12 with Mother of Pearl inlay I've been searching for a decent cabinet that was close in year to display the machine. I originally was displaying it in a 1873 fold down lid cabinet but that cabinet was too early for the machine. This summer I won a local auction for a 1879 cabinet/machine. The machine was in decent condition but I thought that the cabinet would be a good candidate to display my MOP. I won't go into great detail on the refinishing process as I used the same method that I've use on previous cabinets (see other posts for details). As usually I purposely left some of the cabinet's beauty marks. I wanted the cabinet to look nice but still retain it's age. Enjoy the pictures.
Below is a picture of the cabinet before refinishing.
Below are pictures after the refinish with the MOP installed.
It’s beautiful! You do such an amazing job on the cabinets.
