Gold Medal (Johnson, Clark, & Co.) Home Shuttle Sewing Machine

Yesterday I picked up this Gold Medal (made for the Johnson, Clark, & Co.) Home Shuttle sewing machine.  The serial number is 16733.  So far, I'm not quite sure how to date this machine.  The last patent date on the machine is 1868 so it can't be any older than that.  I think it's safe to say that it's probably c.1868 to mid 1870's.  These machines are mostly seen as a stand alone hand crank machine and are not as common in a treadle cabinet.  The machine appears to be complete and I would say that it's in good condition.  There is not a lot of decoration left on the machine but there is some remaining.  We'll see what decoration reveals itself during the cleaning process.  The machine did come with it's shuttle and one bobbin so I should be able to get it to sew.  Here is the lone picture from the FB Marketplace ad.

Below are pictures that took this morning to document how I recieved the machine.   I will update this post as I make progress on the machine.  Stay tuned!!
