Today my friend in Chicago picked up this 1937 Singer 15-91 in a bentwood case and housed in a No. 303 combination library table for me. The No. 303 tables are not as common as the No. 301 combination tables and rarely are seen for sale. I'm making some assumptions on the model of the table based on the below list of tables.
301 - for 99 and 128 machine models.
302 - for 15, 66, 115, 127 models (with knee control)
303 - for 15, 66, 115, 127, and 201 models
304 - for 101-12 models
305 - for 15-60, 66-6 & 127-13 models (with knee control)
306 - for 15-87, 15-90, 66-6, 101-4 & 127-13 models (with knee control)
307 - for 24 and 68 models
I believe my table is a 303 because I own a 301 (2 actually) and a 304. Both of those tables don't have a built in (attached) knee controller. Those tables use the knee controller from the bentwood case. Note that the 301 and the 304 don't say "(with knee control)" in the list above. I also have a 305 table and it does have a built in (attached) knee controller and in the list above it does say "(with knee control). So therefore, I'm summizing that "(with knee control)" means that those tables have built in (attached) controllers and the other tables don't. Therefore, I'm thinking that this table is a 303. Please feel free to correct me or poke holes in my logic.
I'm not sure when I'll actually get the table from my friend but I'm super excited to add this to my library table collection. I currently have examples of the No. 17, 18, 19, 20, 30, 40 (versions 1, 2, and 3), No. 301, No. 303, No. 304, and No. 305. One day I'll have to line up all the library tables and explain the differences. At this point I only have the two pictures from the sellers ad to show.
Update (12/7/2024): Yesterday I picked up this machine/table. If you follow my blog you know that I like to take pictures of the my machines the way I get them so then we can see before and after pics. Here are pictures that I took this morning documenting the way I received it. As you can see, machine, bentwood, and table all need cleaning up if not refinishing. The machine light cover had been previously broken and glue back together and in transport it broke again. Enjoy the "before" pics. I took pics of the underside of the table as you can't really find pictures of these tables on the internet and I figured everyone might want to see what's hidden in most pics of these tables.
