Today I'm posting one of my two Singer VS1's. This machine machine's serial number (6405831) dates to 1884. The VS1 was produced during a very transitional time for Singer. This machine's serial number was alotted in 1884 most likely for the Singer High Arm, but due to the discontinuation of the High Arm the serial number was realocatted for the VS1 in 1885. The VS1 was only produced two years until 1886 so they are fairly uncommon.
I won this machine in an auction last June in Addison, PA. The machine is not in great condition but it is complete and came with an assortment of attatchments. It is adorned with "Floral" decals on the head but the decals on the bed are worn off. Unfortunately, when these machines do come available they are often missing the slide plates and the shuttle/bobbins. This machine, like others in my collection, are waiting in line to be restored. Stay tuned for future updates!
