Today I picked up this 1864ish Shaw & Clark Monitor in Columbiana Ohio. I'm guessing at the date a little as there is no serial number or manufacturer marks on the machine. I'm thinking it was made around 1864 because the skirt of machine bed has access holes on either side of the machine to aid in removing the lower main shaft. Experts have informed me that Shaw & Clark stopped putting these access holes on machines after 1864. The machine is pretty complete as it's only missing the needle set screw and the spool tension spring.
Below are pictures that I took after I got home today. In these pictures, obviously no cleaning has been done on the machine. The picture above and the last two pictures were taken after a quick wipe down of the machine. This machine is going to be fabulous!! Stay tuned for future updates!
