Recently I purchased another Gold Metal Home Shuttle sewing machine(made for Johnson, Clark, & Co.). If you follow my blog you'll know that I own another example of this machine. This one is a bit of an upgrade compared to the other machine as the decoration is nicer on this machine. This machine's serial number was a bit higher than my other machine but the serial numbers are only 1153 machine's apart from each other so they would roughly date to about the same time frame (1868 to mid-1870's). I purchased the machine from an online auction site. Below are some pictures from the auction.
As you can see, the acution was for the head only. Also, the machine was missing a few bits (presser foot bar knob, tension assembly parts, takeup spring, and needle clamp screw). I decided to dispay this machine in the cabinet for my other machine, so therefore I borrowed the tension parts and presser foot knob from my other machine while I look for replacement parts. I have a small stock of the right size screw for the needle clamp screw although the original had a round head. I made a replacement takeup spring. This took a lot of effort to duplicate but I'm really please with how it came out because you can't really tell that it's not original! The bobbin winder tire was missing, so I used one of my stock of white tires. Since the new tire looked so new and bright white, I decided to dye the tire to make it look older.
Below are pictures with the machine all cleanned up and displayed in the original cabinet that came with my other machine. Enjoy!

Absolutely stunning Dave!
